God of Reckless Prodigals and Self-Righteous Siblings,

We praise You for always being there

in times of joyful celebration

and times of despairing distress;

in times of noble faithfulness

and times of wasteful foolishness.

We praise You for the gentle wisdom

that whispers in stillness

and always leads us to the light.

We praise You for Your nail-scarred hand

always extended for us to hold.

Forgive us when we forget Your counsel, guidance and presence,

and,by choice or by ignorance,

wander blind and aimless without You.

Thank You for always calling us back,

for making a way at Your own ultimate expense

for us to be renewed and forgiven.

And for touching us again now

with Your love and grace and wisdom.

In Jesus's Name.

Amen.
